Bosses are confident that the risk of transmission of the virus remains low.

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Academy Trust, which runs the school, said: "One tutor group bubble at Northampton International Academy has been asked to self-isolate for two weeks after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

"Due to the key stage zoning, use of year group bubble arrangements as well as the systems in place within the school, including the use of face masks between lessons, the use of hand sanitiser throughout the day and social distancing of staff, all in line with the Government guidelines, the risk of transmission is minor.

"We undertook a thorough deep clean in the school over the weekend and will continue to implement robust systems to minimise risk and to ensure our pupils and staff are as safe and well as possible during this time."
