Number of confirmed Covid-19 deaths at Northampton General Hospital rises to 106

A further four people who were being treated for Covid-19 at Northampton General Hospital have died.

According to daily figures released by NHS England, three of the four additional deaths happened yesterday (April 18).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Northampton General Hospital has now reached 106, which is taken from data collected at 5pm yesterday (April 18).

No additional deaths were recorded at Kettering General Hospital in the last 24 hours, which means the county-wide hospital death total stands at 170.

Nationally, there has been 596 more deaths recorded, taking the UK total to 16,060.

Each day, there is a daily announcement on the number of deaths from coronavirus in hospitals. However, this does not reflect the number of people that have died that day or within the past 24 hours.

Recording a death and confirming that it was due to Covid-19 can take a few days or weeks, so each day's figures will include deaths from the previous few days or weeks because of the reporting delay.
