A 'small number' of year 13 students have recieved a positive test result at Northampton School for Boys, the headteacher has today confirmed to the Chronicle & Echo.

Headmaster Richard Bernard said: "Following the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in one year group only, year 13, and after consultation with Public Health England, it was determined that the children within the year group who were in close contact with the small number of cases will isolate at home for 14 days.

The school, which has not disclosed the number of positive test results, remains open for all students who are not isolating and has said they should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

Mr Bernard added: "Our highest priority continues to be the health and safety of our students and staff and we are adhering fully to government guidance in order to minimise the risk of transmission of the virus and to ensure that our students can continue to attend school."
