Northampton General cancels all children's outpatient appointments

All children's outpatients appointment at NGH have been cancelled.

Northampton General Hospital has cancelled all children's outpatients appointments.

The hospital announced today (March 25) it has cancelled all consultations for young patients to "protect patients, parents and staff" from the spread of coronavirus.

However, NGH say they will still try to deliver telephone appointments.

It comes as NGH also announced today it is strictly limiting who can visit - going as far as to say: "Please do not visit the site unless you have an appointment or need emergency care.

The announcement, published 10.30am today, reads: "In order to protect our patients, parents and staff as far as we can from the risk of Coronavirus, as of today, 23 March 2020, we have cancelled all children’s outpatient appointments.

"We will be contacting you in due course to make alternative arrangements. As you will appreciate, we are very busy so please don’t attempt to contact us as we don’t have the capacity to deal with incoming calls.

"If you have any immediate concerns about your child please contact you GP in the first instance. In order to keep our phones free, please do not call in about children's outpatient appointments. We will contact you."
