Nine more confirmed Covid-19 deaths as Northampton General Hospital total passes 100

Nine more people being treated for Covid-19 at Northampton General Hospital have died.

Figures released by NHS England today (April 18) have confirmed that one death was recorded on Wednesday (April 15), four were recorded on Thursday (April 16), as well as four more yesterday (April 17).

When data was collected at 5pm last night (April 17), the total number of Covid-19 deaths in Northampton General reached 102.

A further five deaths were also recorded at Kettering General Hospital, taking the county-wide hospital death total to 166, after it was announced yesterday that the collective number of deaths across the county reached 150.

Across the country, a total of 888 more deaths have been recorded taking the UK total to 15,464.

Each day, there is a daily announcement on the number of deaths from coronavirus in hospitals. However, this does not reflect the number of people that have died that day or within the past 24 hours.

Recording a death and confirming that it was due to Covid-19 can take a few days or weeks, so each day's figures will include deaths from the previous few days or weeks because of the reporting delay.
