More Northampton businesses go above and beyond for people affected by coronavirus isolation

Three more businesses across Northampton have offered to help do the shopping for those who cannot during the coronavirus crisis.

The Old White Hart pub in Far Cotton, Lasaan restaurant in Kingsthorpe and Collins Fresh Produce in Moulton Park can deliver food and more to anyone who needs it.

Lasaan owner and borough councillor, Anamul Haque, said: "At the end of the day we are all in the same situation and will all be affected one way or another.

"So each individual has to take this seriously and do whatever we can to minimise the spread of the disease and help each other."

Residents and business owners across Northampton have been rallying together to help people in need during the pandemic and social isolation.

The Old White Hart is offering to do people's shopping through their wholesalers which will hopefully be delivered on Monday and Wednesday.

A statement from the owners said their suppliers have plenty of stock as fewer people go out and hope they can help with supermarkets running out of essentials.

"We are not looking to make a profit on this, just to provide more access to food and essentials to our community," they said.

"Think about your elderly neighbours, people who are now stuck at home with their kids, people who need a helping hand and please let them know!"

Anamul, known as Enam, from Lasaan on Whitehill Crescent, has offered to provide free Indian or Bangladeshi meals to anyone in advised self-isolation, particularly the elderly.

His Facebook post was so well-received, with many offering to deliver the meals or contribute in other ways, he has decided to give NHS workers a 20 per cent discount too.

Enam and his staff can also go shopping for anyone who cannot go out or is worried about leaving the house.

Lasaan is closed for diners but is still open for takeaways and delivery from 5-11pm, with contactless payment encouraged. Call 01604 844244 for more information.

Food delivery service Collins Fresh Produce is offering free home grocery deliveries to residential addresses in a 30-mile radius of its base on Cirrus Park, Moulton Park.

The standard box they provide includes a wide range of products such as eggs, fruit, veg, salad, milk, cheese, sliced bread and selected dried goods.

Call 01604 648814 between 9am and 3pm, place the order and customers will be advised of the next possible delivery slot.

Food will be left on the doorstep, the minimum order is £30 and alternatives will be sent if the selected product is unavailable.
