Online Action for Happiness calls are taking place in Northampton this week to give people support during lockdown...and help them go away feeling better about life.

The Zoom sessions have been running since October and have been inspired by the Happy Hood magazine and its founder, Laura Graham.

Heather's on Kingsley Park Terrace has been a "happy cafe" for the last five years and was approached by Laura to help host some of the Zoom chats.

The next one is tomorrow night, Wednesday February 10, from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Cafe owner Heather Korbey will be hosting, along with Jeremy Hempell.

On Tuesday February 16, the Umbrella Fair will be hosting another session from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Further sessions are planned for the future.

Heather told the Chron: "Each session uses the monthly calendar as a starting place for the chat - Friendly February - and so far we have talked about everything from being happy, sad, stuck at home, walks, including to the Northampton waterfall, books we are reading and gardening. Anything goes."

The sessions have been very well received by those attending.

"There have been lots of people that we known join, but there have been lots of people from Northampton that we've not met before, which has been nice," Heather said.

"Everyone found January a challenging month - some people who joined the sessions said they weren't sure whether they should come because they weren't feeling particularly happy, but they went away feeling a little bit better and more supported," she added.
