Covid-19 testing centre near Northampton's Greencore factory closes - while new one set up in Grange Park

A coronavirus testing centre set up near to a Northampton sandwich factory that reported an outbreak of nearly 300 cases last week has been removed.

The walk-in and drive-in centre was established on the corner of Summerhouse Road in Moulton Park last week.

It was set up after the director of public health for Northamptonshire revealed on August 13 that the Greencore sandwich packaging factory on nearby Deer Park Road has reported an outbreak of some 293 cases amongst workers.

But as of today (August 21), the Greencore factory has 'voluntarily closed' and all staff have been sent home to self-isolate, reportedly as a 'pre-cautionary mesaure' on advice from Public Health Northamptonshire.

Meanwhile, a new testing centre has also been established today in Grange Park.

The walk-in and drive-in centre on Sandy Way, off Saxon Avenue, NN4 5EJ, was announced in a statement this morning (August 21).

However, Grange Park was not on a list of sites that would be open for testing that was shared at 4.20pm yesterday afternoon (August 20).
