Shopping centres in Northampton say they are regularly cleaning and following government advice in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

Grosvenor Shopping Northampton and Weston Favell Shopping Centre remain open but are monitoring the latest information from the authorities about the pandemic.

James Roberts, centre manager at Grosvenor Shopping Northampton, said: “Grosvenor Shopping Northampton is currently monitoring the available advice from the NHS, central Government and its own policies in regards to the current coronavirus situation.

"We are working closely with our cleaning service provider to ensure best practice is followed throughout the centre and continue to advise all our customers to follow the guidance provided by the NHS.”

A Weston Favell spokesman said they will continue to provide customers with local services for as long as possible.

"Our absolute priority is to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff during this time, whatever happens," they said.

"We are actively seeking regular advice from Public Health England and following Government guidelines, so we can prepare for any outcome as the situation evolves.

"All staff have been issued with hand sanitisers and we have other stations around the building, we have also changed the soap to antibacterial soap to encourage our visitors and staff to clean their hands regularly.

"Our on-site cleaning team are constantly wiping down hard surfaces with anti-bacterial spray throughout the day."
