It is thought that more than 30 students are self-isolating due to the latest case.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “A tutor group bubble and a small friendship group has been asked to self-isolate and will not be attending school for two weeks after one of our pupils tested positive for Covid-19.

“Despite hosting over 2,000 staff and pupils within Northampton International Academy, our systems in place within the school such as key stage zoning, use of year group bubble arrangements and social distancing of staff, all in line with the Government guidelines, means the risk of transmission to other pupils and staff is minor.

“We continue to implement robust systems to minimise risk and to ensure our pupils and staff are as safe and well as possible during this time.”

The students will return to school two weeks after they were sent home, in accordance with Government guidelines.
