A Northampton caravan park has responded to claims made by residents about the sales department still being open.

Residents at Billing Aquadrome were concerned that the on-site sales department, which deals with new clients, was still open during the lockdown.

When the lockdown in response to the COVID-19 outbreak was imposed by Government, residents who have no other address were told they could stay, but that they had to stay in their caravans unless they were out to buy essentials, to get medication, to go to work if they cannot work from home or to exercise.

They were told the rest of the park was closed, but residents were concerned that the sales people were being allowed into the park and being shown around by the sales department, which included three or four people being in the same car.

Billing Aquadrome has assured residents that this is not the case and the sales department is not open, however the reception facilities have been moved to the sales office.

A spokesman for the caravan park said: “Billing Aquadrome remains closed as per the Government directive issued on March 25, except for those holiday caravan owners and occupants that use their holiday caravan for up to 11 months a year and do not have a permanent residence in the UK.

“To facilitate this, the park has provided a skeleton staff which keeps utilities open (gas, electricity and water etc) for these owners.

“Park reception and the main admin block remain closed to owners.

“Reception facilities have been moved to the sales office for two reasons: It’s central position on the park and it is a large open plan office which allows “social distancing” to be maintained.

“All staff have been reminded of the need to ensure “social distancing” is maintained indoors and outdoors. The staff who have a need to move around the park will do so singly.”
