Dr Sonia Swart said: “I have spent over 25 years at NGH and feel privileged to have served the hospital as a doctor and a medical director and for the last seven years as CEO.

“I will always be grateful to patients for teaching me everything I needed to know about quality, to our frontline and support staff who work tirelessly with enthusiasm and humour and to all our leadership teams who have so often demonstrated the very best in teamwork and commitment.

“I hope that as the hospital moves forward in the new group with KGH our services go from strength to strength and we make the most of the opportunity to restore and reset the NHS after Covid-19.”

Dr Simon Weldon has taken on the role as the new CEO for both of Northamptonshire’s general hospitals.

As part of the new merger, the organisations themselves will not merge, but the management teams will, to allow the hospitals to work more closely together.
