The transformation took place after the children using the space were able to give their ideas and contributions about what they wanted and now features different zones for various sensory and calming activities along with a jungle themed dark space to support regulation.
Headteacher Clare Searing said, "When I entered the competition I wrote about the inclusive work we do to support our children who need it with a rich sensory diet. What Valentina and her team have achieved is beyond anything we imagined and we are absolutely thrilled with the final result. We have already seen huge benefits for the children using the space and have managed to include its use in the provision plans for an even wider group of children than originally planned."
With 'The Nest' now complete, the new focus will now be on continuing to develop the ordinarily available provisions in all classrooms to support the inclusion vision of the school.
