The new installations include a vibrant climbing structure, play shop, bridge, and imaginative small-world area featuring artificial grass, soft surfacing, and a sensory stream design. These additions have been carefully selected to enhance pupils’ physical development, communication, and problem-solving skills, while promoting curiosity and confidence through play.
Outdoor learning forms an essential part of the EYFS curriculum, helping children to develop balance, coordination, and gross motor strength, as well as encouraging teamwork, turn-taking, and imaginative role play. The improved provision will also support early language and vocabulary development as children explore, describe, and discuss their play experiences.
Principal, Dale Johnson said: “This investment demonstrates our commitment to providing an engaging, purposeful and inclusive learning environment for every child. High-quality outdoor provision gives our youngest pupils the chance to learn through exploration, creativity and play the very foundations of future success.”
Jo Sawford, EYFS Lead, added: “Our new outdoor space provides endless opportunities for children to develop independence, resilience and imagination. It is wonderful to see them working together, testing ideas and using language to describe their adventures. The environment now truly reflects the energy, curiosity and enthusiasm of our children.”
The new equipment will be used daily as part of continuous provision, ensuring that every child has access to meaningful, hands-on experiences that extend classroom learning into the outdoors.
