Seven West Northants schools and nurseries earn Food for Life awards
Schools and early years settings across West Northamptonshire have been recognised for helping children develop healthier eating habits after achieving Food for Life Awards.
The awards mark the completion of a three-year Food for Life programme, funded by West Northamptonshire Council's public health team and delivered by the Soil Association. The initiative has supported schools to improve the quality of food on offer, while helping pupils learn more about nutrition, healthy lifestyles and where food comes from.
Several education settings have now achieved Bronze and Silver Food for Life Awards in recognition of their work.
Spring Lane Primary School, Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School, Kings Heath Primary Academy, St Andrew's CEVA Primary School and Eastfield Academy all received Bronze awards, while Queen Eleanor Primary Academy achieved Silver. Little Learners Childcare also received a Food for Life Award.

The recognised schools and childcare setting are also working towards the Healthy Schools Award, which encourages a whole-school approach to improving children's physical and mental wellbeing.
Councillor Laura Couse, West Northamptonshire Council's cabinet member for adult care and public health, said: "It is fantastic to be able to recognise these schools and early years settings who have achieved their Food for Life Awards.
"This programme has made a real difference by helping children build healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
"Good nutrition and a positive relationship with food are fundamental to physical and mental wellbeing, and this work strongly supports our wider Healthy Schools ambitions. I would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and hard work over the past three years."
West Northamptonshire Council said it will continue to support local schools through its Healthy Schools programme, helping education settings create healthier environments where children and young people can thrive.
