Primary school pupil rides real donkey through Northamptonshire village streets while re-enacting nativity

Milton Parochial Primary School and Holy Cross church joined forces to stage a ‘living nativity’ through the streets of Milton Malsor.The nativity, which takes place every seven years, enables each child at the school to have the opportunity to take part in a Christmas play once during their time at the school.Steve Hollingshurst, Head Teacher Milton Parochial Primary School told the Chronicle & Echo that this years event was a great success and the whole school staged the nativity through the streets of Milton Malsor.He said: “The event was narrated by Rev. Malcolm Deacon and the Christmas Story was told in stages at various stopping points throughout the village. Temporary road closures were in place to ensure that the procession could pass safely, accompanied by several hundred parents and residents. “Mary rode a real donkey through the streets and eventually found rest at the stable in the school grounds. Children and staff dressed in costume and re-enacted each scene outdoors together with Christmas songs at each of the five stopping points.”“We were delighted to be joined by the elderly residents of Holly House and extremely grateful for the support of local residents, the Compass Inn and Greyhound Pub. Thanks also to the volunteer marshals from the Parish Council and Holy Cross Church and to Milton Football Club for the use of their car park.”
