NSPCC Number Day adds up to great fun for Northampton schools

Pupils and staff don fancy dress for a good cause

Schoolkids enjoyed a ‘mathstastic’ series of activities as part of NSPCC Number Day.

Staff and pupils from Stimpson Avenue and Castle academies in Northampton — both part of the East Midlands Academy Trust — were among those dressing up in number-themed costumes on Friday and taking part in a range of maths-related lessons as part of the nationwide fund-raising day.

The NSPCC’s nationwide event encourages schools to raise money for the children’s charity while also celebrating the importance of maths and numeracy skills.

Luci, Clapton, Stimpson Avenue Academy's head of school, said: “The children really embraced NSPCC Number Day with some fantastic costumes, including a giant calculator and even some dice.

“This was a really fantastic event as it encourages the children to improve their maths skills while also raising money for a really important cause.”
