Northamptonshire primary school celebrates opening of £3.5m expansion project
Earls Barton Primary School has officially opened a major £3.5 million expansion project which has created new classrooms and brought the entire school together under one roof for the first time.
The official opening ceremony was attended by representatives from the school, Hatton Academies Trust, the project’s architects and construction team, as well as invited guests from the local community.
As part of the development, three buildings on the site were formally named The Dawn Building, The Horizon Building and The Beacon Building. The new Horizon Building contains five additional classrooms designed to support the school’s growing pupil numbers and its commitment to delivering “Excellence in Everything”. It also provides a link between the former infant and junior school buildings.
A key part of the project has been the successful connection of the school’s Victorian buildings, creating a single unified site. School leaders say the new layout will improve accessibility, strengthen collaboration between year groups and provide a more cohesive learning environment for pupils, staff and families.

Marie Lally, co-headteacher of Earls Barton Primary School, described the development as a “landmark moment” for the school.
She said: “The new facilities represent a significant investment in the future of our pupils and community.
“By bringing our school together into one building and creating additional learning spaces, we are ensuring that every child has access to an environment where they can learn, grow and achieve their full potential.”
Darren King, managing director of Lindum Group, said the expansion would provide much-needed teaching space, improved facilities and enhanced access for pupils, staff and visitors for years to come. He added that the company had worked closely with the school to minimise disruption throughout the construction process.
School leaders said the new facilities will help preserve Earls Barton Primary School’s historic links with the village while providing a modern learning environment for future generations.
