Northampton school closed to all pupils with immediate effect

The school made the sudden decision to close due to staff shortages as a result of self-isolation precautionary measures.

Weston Favell Academy announced today (19 October) in a statement on their website that the school will be closed to all pupils with immediate effect.

This sudden decision comes after the secondary school was faced with a shortage of staff due to increased numbers of staff having to self-isolate as a precaution against the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This is believed to be the second school to close in Northampton after specialist school, Purple Oaks Academy closed for a week last month to deep clean their school after several positive covid-19 tests.The school will re-open on Monday November 2, which means that it will be following normal term dates except pupils will be breaking up for half term several days earlier than initially planned.

Parents would have received an email from Weston Favell Academy today notifying them of this decision.

Weston Favell Academy has asked parents, who have received a letter advising their child to self-isolate, to follow the advice on the letter and ensure their child stays at home until the date advised on the letter.

Pupils’ lessons will take place on Microsoft Teams online and they have been told to follow their normal timetable and work remotely for the rest of this week. There will be no revision sessions for pupils over half term.
