"In school we see first-hand the impact that our health and wellbeing provision has on our students, and for this to be validated by an external scheme is just the icing on the cake.

"However, our work does not stop here and we recognise that there is always room for improvement.

"We look forward to continuing to build on our current provision in the future.”

The Healthy Schools scheme, originally launched by the Department for Education, gets schools to complete a self-assessment and they receive a rating based on their answers.

Schools then receive an award for their performance as well as further information on how they might improve their healthy living policies.

Briar Hill head teacher Janey Cooksley said: “A huge thanks to Allan for his ongoing hard work on our wonderful health and wellbeing provision at Briar Hill.

"Now, more than ever, protecting the physical and mental health of our pupils is one of our greatest priorities, and to see that hard work paying off in this way is fantastic.”
