Malcolm Arnold Preparatory School (MAPS) asked their pupils to dress up as superheroes for the day – either as an existing superhero or one of their own creation.
In the afternoon, the children then went outside and took part in a dance-a-thon where two classes dancing to music faced each other in their superhero costumes.
Finally, MAPS took part in Times Tables Rockstars - a maths-based battle that schools across the UK can take part in in aid for Red Nose Day.
At The Arbours Primary Academy, principal Angela Watts invited children to come into school dressed as their favourite key worker – honouring the superhero theme by celebrating our real-life heroes.
The children also had the opportunity during the day to share a talent or skill they developed during lockdown with the rest of their class, with the aim of inspiring joy and laughter with their peers.
Similarly, at Eastfield Academy, pupils were invited to dress in their own clothes or wear something red to school, and pupils collected jokes to share with friends and spread the joy.
Simon Rose, director of primary education at the David Ross Education Trust, which all three schools are part of, said: “We are proud to support Red Nose Day across our primary schools, and we know that this year more than ever their mission of supporting families experiencing hardship is more important than ever this year.
"Our schools are truly embracing the Red Nose Day spirit today spreading laughter and joy for a good cause. I can’t think of a better way to close out our second week back to school!”
