A Northampton school has ended the year on a high by donating loads of items to two foodbanks and made Christmas cards for key workers.

Moulton School and Science College students and staff brought in non-perishable goods and create cards for someone of their choice on Christmas Jumper Day on Friday (December 11).

The personalised 'thank you' cards will be sent to NHS staff, emergency workers, school staff, supermarket and delivery workers this week.

Head teacher Angie Dabbs said: "The cards were judged for their creativity, positive message and cooperation of the whole form.

"We have been blown away by the generosity of our students who are so keen to give something back to their community.

Two students and a member of staff went to Weston Favell foodbank in two trips in the minibus while adhering to all of the coronavirus safety measures.

Foodbank co-ordinator Richard Appleby said: "We are extremely grateful and overwhelmed at Moulton School's contribution today.

"This will go a long way to support lots of families in our county at this difficult time. Thank you very much to everyone who donated!

Mrs Dabbs said the school currently has no Covid-19 cases after a surge in infections nationwide since half term and is hoping to get to Christmas with that record intact.

"It has been an incredibly stressful time for everyone and our staff have been amazing, resilient and, above all, positive and upbeat throughout," she added.
