Home Instead Northampton enjoyed a visit from MP Lucy Rigby recently. Our registered care manager Sandi Morrison invited her along to our offices in Moulton Park and she quickly took us up on the offer. Lucy was very interested in Home Instead and its great values and how different we are from most other domiciliary care providers.

Lucy was very interested to hear about Home Instead’s great values and how we are different from most other Care Companies in that we introduce our Care Professionals to the clients before care begins. How we do a lot more than just care. Helping families and loved ones looking for care and where to find it can be a minefield for most especially if it comes at a time of crisis. We touched on the effect the cost of living is having on everyone from clients who have care later in life to our business owners.

Among the many topics discussed were bed blocking in NHS & how potentially, it is cheaper to pay for Private Care at home for those ready to be discharged than keep them in hospital. Also, the length of time DBS’s take to clear and the effect it has on Care Professionals who are ready to start work and then the loss and cost to the business when delayed. Lucy is going to look into this with local Policing.

A suggestion was made that perhaps 0% VAT on essential items such as PPE and other supplies may help. Lucy even suggested that she set up joint meetings with other political leaders in the area with Care at Home as the agenda.

On leaving Lucy and Sandi discovered they are both big fans of the local Rugby team Northampton Saints and discussed their recent Championship win and we were hoping for another success soon.
