Talent on show at Winter Creative Festival

More than 100 of Spring’s Social Prescribing Teams clients, both previous and current attended a creative festival on Thursday, December 11.

ExCo

Held at Abington Reform Church it provided a wonderful space to showcase some of the creative talents that Springs clients have produced over the last year, and an opportunity so show artwork, crafting, listening to a choir and finishing off with a silent disco

Our brand new Community Choir started the proceedings as they took to the stage for the very first time The choir, made up of local NN3 residents, Spring clients, volunteers, and staff, is led by Adrian Turner, Musical Director from Wellingborough School. Adrian has been meeting weekly supported by Sarah Borondy Community Development Lead for SPRING and Nicole Heitz Community Lead for Growing Together to build confidence, connection, and community through song.

The choir was created through a partnership between Spring and the Growing Together charityboth organisations working closely across Eastern Northampton to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and empower local people.

Their debut was met with warm applause and plenty of smiles.

One Choir member said: “I never thought singing with others could make such a difference to my week! I’ve met new friends, laughed more than I have in ages, and actually look forward to Thursdays now. It’s like a little burst of happiness I get to carry home with me.”

Nicole Heitz, Growing Together, said: “Working together is at the heart of everything we do. Partnerships like ours with Spring mean charities can combine their strengths and create opportunities that simply wouldn’t exist alone. Collaboration is how we build stronger, healthier, more resilient communities—and the choir is a perfect example of the joy that comes from that.”

Spring was also extremely proud to exhibit pieces of artwork made by clients. There were paintings on display from several Cuppa and Paint wellbeing sessions that Spring have developed with “Come Outside Events held at Bellinge Community House.

A SPRING member said: “I have loved coming to the cuppa and paint groups at Bellinge, painting for those few hours really helps calm my mind, it’s such a happy group and I get to take my art home to show the family,

SPRING also collaborated with Workbridge and DWP so SPRING clients could attend a Community Skills & Wellbeing programme held at Workbridge and on display were pottery and felting that clients had completed whilst at the 6-week workshops.

Silent Disco

Springhave worked with The Silent Disco project a few times now as their sessions create a safe, joyful space where every person can move at their own pace, choose their own channel, and feel completely free,, so it was a wonderful way to finish off a day, with people dancing, or tapping their feet to a tune.

Katie from the Silent Disco Project, said it was “Confidence. Connection. Magic in motion”.

After a free prize drawer, with a pamper hamper a Christmas food hamper and many other prizes, the day drew to a close one full of joy, creativity, connection and a festive, expression of celebration of a year in SPRING
