Northamptonshire Community Foundation Community Hero of the Week

C2C Social Action support women across Northamptonshire who are affected by trauma, addiction, poor mental health, and involvement in the criminal justice system, helping them to rebuild their lives and improve their wellbeing.
Through their Women’s Centres in Northampton and Kettering, they provide a safe, supportive space where women can access practical help, emotional support and opportunities for personal development.
C2C Social Action are delivering CARE - a 5-week wellbeing course designed to improve both physical and mental health. CARE stands for Connect, Action, Relax, Eat, with each week focusing on one of these pillars to help women take small, sustainable steps towards healthier lifestyles. Sessions include grounding techniques, gentle movement, mindful eating and group discussions, all delivered in a trauma-informed and accessible way.
The programme is designed to build confidence, reduce isolation and encourage positive lifestyle changes. Many women who complete the CARE course go on to become peer mentors, supporting others and gaining a renewed sense of purpose. This progression into volunteering helps to strengthen long-term wellbeing and community resilience.
A £5,000 grant from the Queen’s Institute Fund, awarded via Northamptonshire Community Foundation, is supporting the delivery of CARE by covering facilitation, materials and volunteer support across both Women’s Centres. The project aligns closely with local health priorities by addressing health inequalities, improving mental health outcomes and strengthening communities across Northamptonshire.
Northamptonshire Community Foundation is the county’s largest independent grant maker, having given more than £24 million in grants since its inception in 2001. Since the start of the 2024/25 financial year, The Foundation has awarded more than £1.3 million in grants. Their latest Impact Report is ready to read here.
