Parklands School's Milly Isaac was selected out of more than 200 entries from schools across Northampton

A student from Parklands Primary School has been announced as the winner of a competition to design the annual Christmas card for a Northampton MP.

Commissioned by Lucy Rigby, MP for Northampton North, the competition saw over 200 entries from schoolchildren across Northampton, each competing for the opportunity to appear on her official Christmas Card for 2025.

Assisted by David Summers, Editor of the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, entries were carefully shortlisted to seven finalists – one from each participating school. From these finalists, Milly Isaac’s charming design of a robin in a Christmas wreath was selected as the winner.

Milly, currently in Year 4 at Parklands Primary School, will have her design appear on over 700 Christmas cards sent to charities, businesses and stakeholders across Northampton and the wider county, including the Mayor of Northampton and the Lord Lieutenant, the King’s representative in Northamptonshire.

Lucy joined Milly and Parklands School’s Deputy Head Mrs Robinson on Friday to present the winning artist with a gift voucher and a certificate marking her artistic talent. She was also interviewed by the school's student journalists for their newsletter.

Lucy Rigby KC MP said,:“I was delighted at the level of engagement from schools and children from across Northampton and hugely impressed by the artistic talent from all those that took part, especially those who incorporated our town into their designs.

“Choosing just one was an impossible task, but I ultimately chose Milly’s charming submission for its festive design and vibrant colours. I hope it brings a spark of Christmas magic to everyone who spots it in shops and centres across Northampton.”
