Northampton has always been a proud home to dog lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, and a new local initiative is set to bring both worlds together in an exciting way.

Canicross — the sport of running with your dog — is growing rapidly across the UK.

Chloe Malpas, a keen runner and long-time dog sport enthusiast, is launching a Canicross community in Northampton from early 2026. Having seen first-hand how the sport can transform both confidence and connection between dogs and their owners, she is passionate about making Canicross accessible to people locally.

“I’m really passionate about this sport and the difference it can make,” Chloe says. “I wanted to bring it to Northampton so people and their dogs can experience something fun, supportive and confidence-building together. The group will welcome everyone — whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned runner.”

Chloe says “The aim is to build something that brings people together, gets them outdoors, and gives their dogs a meaningful and enjoyable way to work with them.”
