Northampton Against Cuts spreads love on Valentine’s Day for charities that have closed

Campaign group Northampton Against Cuts marked Valentine’s Day by “spreading love” across the town in tribute to charities that have closed in the past 12 months.
Members of the community group placed heart-shaped messages around Northampton town centre, thanking the organisations and volunteers who supported vulnerable residents before recent closures. The display highlighted the impact the loss of local services has had on people experiencing homelessness, poverty and social isolation.
Katie Simpson for Northampton Against Cuts said Valentine’s Day felt like the right moment to recognise “the compassion, dedication and quiet heroism” of staff and volunteers who had served the community, often for many years.
“Love isn’t just about cards and flowers,” they said. “It’s about standing up for your community and remembering the people who made a difference.”
The group says it hopes the gesture will spark wider conversations about the future of frontline support in Northampton and encourage residents to back remaining services and community hubs.
Northampton Against Cuts has pledged to continue campaigning for investment in local support services and to ensure that those most in need are not forgotten.
