Lumora Exhibition: Jack Savage brings a new visual language to Northampton

Jack Savage, in partnership with Northampton and County Club, hosted the Lumora exhibition on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 January in the striking surroundings of the Oak Room. Set within one of Northampton’s most historic venues, with over 350 years of heritage, the exhibition brought contemporary visual art into dialogue with the Club’s rich architectural and cultural past, drawing visitors from across the town and beyond.
Kingsthorpe born Jack Savage is an international, award-winning photographer and digital artist whose work sits confidently at the intersection of photography and painting. Represented by Kell Art Gallery in London, Passpartout Gallery in Milan, Singulart Paris, and Zari Gallery London, Savage has built a formidable international reputation, earning more than 100 photography awards worldwide. Among these are the prestigious Pangaea Prize from Siena Photo Awards, Photographer of the Year at the Black & White Spider Awards in Beverly Hills USA, Gold from the Shatto Gallery USA, and a Double Gold Medal from the Tokyo International Photo Awards.
The “Lumora” exhibition showcased a carefully curated body of work that explored texture, light, and abstraction, inviting viewers to experience imagery as something both photographic and painterly. In total, Savage presented 12 mixed-media works, including 10 large-scale pieces and two smaller works, which sat strikingly within the historic architecture of the Oak Room. The contrast between contemporary digital art and the Club’s ornate interiors created a dialogue between past and present, reinforcing the exhibition’s sense of place.
Speaking after the exhibition, Savage expressed his gratitude to those involved in bringing the show to Northampton.

“Thanks so much my exhibition team, to the club’s chairman Adrian Pryce, my curators Khari Worrell and Angelina Pretty. “A special thanks to Adrian for giving me the opportunity to have the show and for opening the doors to people seeing art in Northampton in such a spectacular venue.”
The exhibition was well received across both days, attracting strong attendance and demonstrating the appetite for high-quality contemporary art within the town, while also proving mutually beneficial for both the artist and the venue.
