Little Learners Northampton celebrates prestigious ‘Food for Life’ award

Little Learners Childcare in Northampton, owned by Samantha Evans, is celebrating a milestone achievement after becoming the first nursery in the county to receive the coveted Food for Life Early Years Award from the Soil Association.
The award recognises early years settings that place fresh, healthy, sustainably sourced food at the heart of everyday learning. For Samantha Evans and her dedicated team, the honour marks the culmination of years of commitment to giving children the very best nutritional start in life.
As part of the inspection, the nursery showcased how they weave healthy eating into daily routines. From cooking alongside their onsite chef, Amy, to growing their own fruit and vegetables in the nursery garden, Little Learners demonstrated a hands-on, holistic approach to food education that impressed assessors.
Children are encouraged to explore food in creative ways—through gardening, tasting, cooking, and themed learning activities—while parents are regularly kept informed about what their children are making and eating.

Operations Manager Holly White said she is “incredibly proud” of her staff, noting that the award reflects not only the nursery’s values but also the enthusiasm of both children and educators.
“Our goal has always been to help children develop a lifelong, positive relationship with healthy food,” she said. “This award is a wonderful recognition of the passion and hard work that goes into making that happen every single day.”
With this achievement, Little Learners continues to set the standard for early years education in Northampton—proving that learning about good food doesn’t just fill little tummies, it helps build confident, curious, and healthy young minds.
