Kingsthorpe Jets U10s raiders smash 100km charity challenge, raising £1,200 for Northampton charity

Kingsthorpe Jets U10s Raiders, a grassroots football team who compete in the NYDAL, decided to take a break from football on Sunday and instead completed their epic challenge of covering the distance of 100km as a team with their three coaches.

The idea formed a couple of months back when the coaches wanted to set the boys a challenge, something they could complete as a team but away from the football pitch. After much discussion Raiders Run 100 was born and much planning followed. The boys worked hard in training in the build up and were busy raising lots of money.

Yesterday at Kingsthorpe Rec, the home of Kingsthorpe Jets, with the sun shining down they not only completed their 100km, but they absolutely smashed it! They set themselves 4 hours to complete the challenge and only needed less than half of the time to finish and better than that every lap had the boys smiling, laughing and encouraging each other to keep going, the determination and team spirit they showed was simply incredible.

The boys have been working hard to raise money for their challenge and they have gone above and beyond. They exceeded their original target of £500 and have raised an unbelievable £1200. All the monies raised will be used to purchase gifts for local children and young adults who might otherwise go without this Christmas. Our chosen charity we are supporting this year is the fantastic McCarthy-Dixon Foundation who work so hard within the local community.

The boys were lucky enough to have the support of some amazing local companies who donated and had their logos on the Tshirts that the boys and coaches proudly wore for the run. So they would like to give a big thank you shout out to T3 Signs, Luxe Lab, Wackett’s Painters and Decorators, Thomas Connelly Estate Agents, Metro Merchandise, Hawsons, Kingsthorpe Spice and Abbot Interiors Bathrooms.
