Homelium Care and Age UK Northamptonshire support older people through winter with ‘Caring Through the Cold’ Events
Homelium Care Northampton has successfully partnered with Age UK Northamptonshire to deliver a series of Caring Through The Cold community events, helping vulnerable older adults stay warm, informed and supported during the colder months.
The events were held in Kingsthorpe and Roade, where the team handed out over 30 warm blankets to the older people in the local community, alongside hot drinks, friendly conversation and practical winter wellbeing advice. The events created a welcoming space for older adults to talk openly about the challenges colder weather can bring, from rising energy costs to staying warm and safe at home.
As well as offering physical warmth, the events focused on important conversations around winter health, including tips on keeping homes warm, recognising the signs of cold-related illness, and knowing where to turn for additional support when needed.

“The Caring Through the Cold events have been incredibly rewarding. We had so many meaningful conversations with older people who really appreciated the time, warmth and reassurance. Winter can be an isolating and worrying time for many, and being able to offer both practical support and a friendly face made a real difference.”
