Wellingborough charity opens waitlist for professional legal support as part of mission to restore hope for homeless children and struggling single parents

Guardian Light Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its free Legal Aid service, offering professional legal advice to families who have nowhere else to turn.

Beginning operations in the coming weeks, this vital service will provide telephone consultations with a qualified pro-bono solicitor, removing barriers that keep vulnerable people trapped in cycles of homelessness, abuse, and desperation.

The waitlist is now open. Families in need can register at: https://www.guardianlightfoundation.org/legal-aid-waiting-list-form

From determination to impact — his mission is to ensure every child and family has a place to call home.

Every day, children sleep on cold floors. Single parents skip meals so their children can eat. Families fleeing abuse face eviction notices they cannot understand and legal battles they cannot afford to fight.

For too many in our community, the justice system feels like a locked door—one they don't have the key to open.

Guardian Light Foundation exists to hand them that key.

"We see families every day who are one legal crisis away from losing everything," says John Benson, Founder of Guardian Light Foundation. "A mother facing eviction. A teenager escaping abuse with no understanding of their rights. These aren't statistics—they're our neighbours. And they deserve someone in their corner."

The new Legal Aid Service will provide:

  • Free professional legal advice via telephone consultations
  • Support with Children’s Arrangements:
  • Custody, visitation rights, school decisions, safeguarding advice. Domestic Violence Injunctions:
  • Non-molestation orders, occupation orders, restraining orders. Single-Parent Legal Support:
  • Family court guidance, child maintenance, housing rights.
  • Compassionate, trauma-informed guidance from a qualified solicitor
  • Accessible support for those who cannot afford traditional legal services

All appointments will be conducted by phone, ensuring that geography, transportation, and mobility are never barriers to justice.

This is not charity. This is dignity.

Guardian Light Foundation's Legal Aid Service is the first step in a comprehensive support system designed to break the cycle of homelessness and trauma. The service will integrate seamlessly with the Foundation's upcoming trauma counselling and Future Skills & Employment Hub, creating pathways from crisis to independence.

"Legal aid is often the first door families need to walk through," John explains. "Once we help them secure stable housing or protect them from harm, we can support them with counselling, education, and employment. We don't just want to help people survive—we want to help them thrive."

Guardian Light Foundation is proud to announce two new strategic partnerships that will amplify its impact:

  • Serve (Rushden): Supporting ensuring peace of mind with SERVE’s DBS Service efforts
  • Alison: The world-renowned online learning platform, providing accessible education and skills training to empower families toward financial independence and more

These partnerships represent a growing network of organizations united by a shared belief: that every child deserves safety, and every parent deserves support.

The Foundation is also delighted to welcome Nyasha Cee as its first official board member, serving as Secretary. Nyasha brings passion, dedication, and a commitment to transparency and accountability as Guardian Light Foundation builds its governance structure toward full charity registration.

"We are actively seeking additional board members who share our vision," says John. "If you believe that vulnerable families deserve more than survival—if you believe they deserve hope—we want to hear from you. Email us at [email protected]."

Guardian Light Foundation's work is only possible because of people who refuse to look away.

"This isn't about us," John says. "It's about the single mother who finally understands her rights. The teenager who escapes abuse and finds safety. The child who gets to sleep in a real bed, in a real home, for the first time in years. It's those who believe in our vision and mission who can make this possible."

Because hope should never be a luxury.

Guardian Light Foundation is a Wellingborough-based charity dedicated to restoring hope for homeless children scarred by abuse and harassment, and empowering struggling single parents through safe shelter, education, counselling, and legal support.
