Funding from the town council’s Councillor Community Grant Scheme, backed by ward Cllr Aldridge, enabled the association to provide Christmas trees to local businesses across Kingsley Front and Links View.
Around 15 businesses have been busy decorating them in their own creative and colourful styles, bringing Christmas cheer to Kingsley Park Terrace.
On Saturday, 20th December, the Mayor of Northampton, Cllr Jane Birch, judged the decorated trees. The Heathers Café, who asked the community to contribute home-made decorations and the team at Right Vape, who also made their decorations, were joint winners.
The Old Bank pub supported the project and held a celebration event for residents after the competition judging, with hot chocolate, mince pies, and carol singing.
Liam Durrant from the Kingsley and Links View Residents Association, said: “We are grateful for the funding from Northampton Town Council as this was a wonderful event that brought neighbours together, supported local businesses, and added a warm and joyful atmosphere to the area in the run-up to Christmas.”
The Kingsley and Links View Residents Association was established in 2017 and is now active again, bringing fresh energy and determination to the area. With the support of Ward Councillor, Farzana Aldridge, a newly elected committee and updated constitution, the association aims to deliver its goals and represent residents.
By listening to local residents, the association is working with relevant organisations to address key issues such as cleanliness, pavements, community safety and the overall look and feel of the area. A core focus is rebuilding pride in Kingsley Terrace and the surrounding streets, helping residents feel positive, confident and proud of where they live.
