Everything you need to know about bus timetable changes in Northampton that start in January
Stagecoach Midlands will introduce a series of timetable changes across the Northampton area from Saturday January 4, following a detailed review of passenger volumes.
A spokepseron said the adjustments are designed to better match services to current travel patterns while maintaining reliable and convenient travel options for local communities.
Stagecoach will also be introducing new electric buses on many Northampton routes shortly, helping to support cleaner, more sustainable public transport across the town. Further details will be announced soon.
Service changes
Service 1
- Revised Saturday timetable to better reflect customer volumes.
- A 15-minute frequency will continue to operate between 0900 and 1500.
Service 2
- Revised early morning and early evening timetable on Mondays to Fridays.
- Revised Saturday afternoon timetable to reflect passenger demand.
Service 3
- Revised timetable, with buses operating every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday in line with current travel volumes.
Services 4/4A/4B
- Saturday frequency standardised to every 15 minutes, with almost all journeys serving Scholars Green.
- Minor changes to early morning (before 0700) and early evening (after 1800) journeys on Mondays to Fridays.
- Passengers are advised to check the timetable carefully.
Service 7
- Additional early journeys will now serve Brickyard Spinney Road in Moulton Park, following requests from local businesses.
- Mondays to Fridays: 0403 & 0445 from Northampton town centre
- Saturdays: 0403 & 0457
- Sundays: 0403 & 0455
Service 8
- Revised timetable.
- Some journeys towards Blackthorn after 1815 will be withdrawn due to low passenger numbers.
- Alternative journey options remain available on Services 1, 7 and 16.
Service 9C
- Withdrawn on Saturdays and Sundays due to low passenger demand.
Service 14
- The 0520 Northampton–Buckton Fields journey and 0537 return (Mondays to Fridays) will be withdrawn due to low usage.
- The 0550 round trip from Northampton and 0607 return from Buckton Fields will run 10 minutes earlier.
Service 16
- Revised early morning and early evening timetable on Mondays to Fridays.
- Revised Saturday afternoon timetable to reflect travel volumes.
Service 87
- A new journey at 0706 from Towcester to Northampton, arriving at 0815, will be introduced following customer feedback.
Service X6
- Revised Sunday timetable to improve punctuality.
- No change to the overall level of service.
