Craft a Salem The Cat Winners Announcement

In the Autumn we launched a crafting competition, challenging Daventry residents to knit, crochet, felt, pottery or any other craft to create a three-dimensional Salem mascot.
We have been delighted by the response and the three lucky winners will each be receiving a £100 voucher to spend in a Daventry independent store of their choice this Christmas.Bonus, due to the difficulty in judging, a 4th crafter will also be receiving a £100 voucher.
Many shoppers in Daventry town centre will know the affectionate three-legged cat known as Salem. He is regularly spotted wandering the historic market town and grabbing 40 winks in various shops. Indeed, many shop owners have lovingly placed baskets and water bowls to provide a comfortable spot for him to rest during his adventures.
His owner has kindly given Discover Daventry permission to feature Salem and his exploits in order to promote the town and raise money for local charities.
The winners are:
Amy Raynor with a crocheted Salem.
Elizabeth Newman with a crocheted Salem.
Sabeeqa Lovejoy with a faux fur Salem.
Misty Rappell with a cardboard/plaster of Paris Salem.
Discover Daventry would like to thank all the crafters who entered this crafting challenge to support our efforts to promote Daventry town centre. Your time and skills are greatly appreciated. Look out for crafted Salem at events during 2026!
Discover Daventry is the public-facing platform of the Daventry Retail Forum, founded by independent retailers and services trading within Daventry town centre to help promote the businesses, events and activities in this historic market town.
