Eastern Northampton’s brand-new Community Choir took to the stage for the very first time on Thursday, delivering an uplifting and heartfelt performance at the Spring Social Prescribing Winter Creative Festival.

The choir—made up of local residents, Spring clients, volunteers, and staff and led by Adrian Turner, Growing Together Board Member and Musical Director from Wellingborough School—has been meeting regularly to build confidence, connection, and community through song. Their debut was met with warm applause and plenty of smiles.

The choir was created through a partnership between Spring and Growing Together, two organisations working closely across Eastern Northampton to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and empower local people.

Sarah Borondy, Spring, said: “Events like this show why it's so important for services to truly embed themselves in the community. When we work where people live, in partnership with organisations they already trust, support becomes more meaningful and more accessible. It’s about meeting people where they are—and making sure they feel seen, heard, and connected.”

Nicole Heitz, Growing Together added: “Working together is at the heart of everything we do. Partnerships like ours with Spring mean charities can combine their strengths and create opportunities that simply wouldn’t exist alone. Collaboration is how we build stronger, healthier, more resilient communities—and the choir is a perfect example of the joy that comes from that.”

Spring provides vital holistic wellbeing support to residents with Long Term Health Conditions, through social prescribing, Linking people to practical help, support services, Volunteering, activities, and community opportunities that improve quality of life.

Growing Together, based in Blackthorn, delivers a range of community programmes, family support, youth engagement, gardening groups, and wellbeing services. Their long-standing roots in the area make them a trusted and familiar presence for many individuals and families.

By collaborating on initiatives like the Community Choir, the two organisations ensure that the community benefits from combined skills, shared networks, and a richer set of opportunities.

A shared commitment to community wellbeing

The Community Choir is just one of a number of projects Spring and Growing Together have collaborated on to support people living across Eastern Northampton. By combining Spring’s social prescribing expertise with Growing Together’s deep community roots, both organisations are helping residents build confidence, develop connections, and access the support they need to thrive.

The success of the choir’s debut performance marks a promising future for music, wellbeing, and community-led activity in the area—with more sessions, events, and projects already in the pipeline.
