Brampton View Care Home Resident Annette enjoyed diving in Malaysia

Residents from Brampton View Care Home in Northampton were taken on amazing virtual trips by the wonderful Rebecca from Virtual Reality Therapy when she visited the home recently.

Residents in the nursing community at Brampton View had never experience Virtual Reality headset and when Rebecca visited recently, she focused on animals and nature, swimming with dolphins and diving in Malaysia to give the residents an experience that they are no longer able to have or ever had!

One resident that had never learnt to swim was given the experience of diving in the beautiful waters of Malaysia, and for the first-time experience life below the oceans. The resident said: "How wonderful! what a big world it is!"

The resident also stated how it brought a different perspective, saying afterwards how we all get caught up in the little things but it's a big beautiful world out there. Having never been able to swim she thought she would be unable to experience anything like this but that through the headset she would see and experience life in a different perspective.

One of the homes other residents was absolutely amazed, saying how marvellous it was. Rebecca took him on a tour of Northants Saints Rugby ground. Which he said he missed dearly, as an avid supporter and follower of the team this gave him the opportunity right from his bed to revisit the stadium. Whilst other residents used the Virtual headset to relax by waterfalls with soothing music, experience a day at the races!... Seeing the horse race and seeing them up close. Rebecca from VR Therapies observed that this particular resident also had the Northants Saints Rugby posters up, so took the resident for a tour there too!

Brampton View Care Home General Manager, Elina House stated: “We are able to continue lifelong hobbies or interests which is a key part of our resident's identities, and we make every effort to encourage and support each resident to be able to do so with our life enrichment programme”. Sarah James, Activities Coordinator said: "We want to say a huge thank you to Rebecca, never underestimate the difference you make!"
