Year 3 and Year 4 students sign structural steel that will become part of their new library

Pupils at Buckton Fields Primary School have reached an important milestone in the construction of their new permanent school building, signing their names on a structural beam that will soon be installed above their new library.

This week, Year 3 and Year 4 children took part in the special ceremony, each adding their signature to the steel beam in an event supported by construction partner Tilbury Douglas.

The signed beam will become a permanent feature of the new building, carrying the names of the current generation of Buckton Fields pupils for years to come.

The school’s original school building was among a small number nationwide which had to close in the summer of 2023 following government concern about its contractor’s construction work.

The school, which is part of Preston Hedges Trust, is now looking forward to its new state-of-the-art building, nursery and all weather sports pitch which is due for completion later this year.
