Unique gym hopes to become ‘fitness hub’ as it prepares to open at the heart of Northampton
A unique gym hopes to become a “fitness hub” as it prepares to open at the heart of Northampton later this year.
Foundry, which is a new gym and Hammer Strength training centre, hopes to open to the public in late 2025 on Bridge Street.
The aim is to combine elite equipment, a vibrant atmosphere and a state-of-the-art training space, designed to inspire progress and bring people together no matter who they are.
Foundry will be home to top strength and conditioning equipment, with dedicated training studios for boxing, Hyrox and group classes.
There will be on-site additions of a supplement store, physiotherapist and a barber shop, to support health, recovery and lifestyle all under one roof in a prime town centre location.
Foundry is a growing franchise that originated in Walsall and has scaled to 24 locations across the UK. The Northampton branch is being opened by Arjun Aujla and is a family venture alongside his parents.
Arjun explained that now is the ideal time to launch Foundry in Northampton as fitness is booming with popularity as a result of social media – including the specific Hammer Strength equipment he plans to offer.
Hammer Strength is an equipment brand for elite level training, but it is open to anyone as you have the option to build up the weights. The body building equipment is friendly and safe for anyone to use.
“People are developing training routines and we wanted to offer the perfect environment with higher spec equipment than standard gyms,” Arjun told the Chronicle & Echo.
Arjun has worked in the finance industry for the past half a decade, but says the gym has been an important part of his life since he was 15 years old. He now finds himself in the gym most days and wants to build on his passion for helping people and giving advice.
“I like to see people do and feel better for themselves,” said Arjun. “This was an amazing opportunity to spread that love to Northampton.”
As well as the Hammer Strength equipment, Foundry will be home to standard gym equipment, Hyrox and cardio spaces, a boxing ring and bags, and studio space for classes and wellness events.
“We hope to bring the community together in this fitness hub with everything under one roof to help them grow mentally and physically,” said Arjun.
Monthly membership will cost £34.99 and those who sign up ahead of the anticipated opening in late 2025 will get their first month for just £5.
Foundry is also unique in that it will not charge rent to personal trainers. All the team asks is that they and their clients are members of Foundry, and they are welcome to use the space in any way they want.
Talking about why Bridge Street is the ideal location for Foundry, Arjun said he and his family like that the building is close to the university, hospital and town centre.
“We felt the central vibe when we visited,” he said. “It’s on a main one-way ring road and you can’t avoid it next to the British Heart Foundation.”
