Take a look at these three ‘one to watch’ businesses set to take Northampton by storm this spring
Take a look at these three “one to watch” businesses, which I believe are set to take the town by storm this spring and you don’t want to miss it.
It has been a rocky start to 2026 for Northampton’s community of independents, with a peak in reported closures, while others have been rewarded for their hard work throughout the first three-and-a-half months of the year.
I will never stop banging the drum about the appreciation that needs to be shown to the wide variety of innovative ventures launched on our doorsteps. Why opt for the convenience of a chain when you could support local and secure a business’ bright future in this town?
These three businesses are headed up by determined founders who deserve your support, so let’s delve into what they have to offer our community throughout spring 2026…

St Giles Cheese
Family-run deli and cheese shop St Giles Cheese is a long-standing venture at the heart of Northampton town centre, launched by Steve and Caroline Ward in 2010 following an inspiring holiday to France.
The much-loved business specialises in the finer things in life and the team is committed to finding and creating the best of everything they offer.
The husband and wife duo admirably kept their heads held high after being burgled twice in a seven-week period in early 2025, yet came back stronger with an even greater offering towards the end of last year and in 2026.
Steve recently told this newspaper that they had to look into other avenues and start producing sidelines that complement their existing offering, including condiments and fresh bakes now available in-store.
Your Cool
Jo Rutherford founded Your Cool in late 2019, after many years as a thought in the back of her mind. The award-winning business owner continues to ramp up what the artisan ice cream venture has to offer each year.
Your Cool is a small batch, artisan producer of fresh and high quality ice creams and sorbets, made to order for local delivery or available as a unique addition to events.
Jo now has more than 100 traditional, seasonal and exotic recipes to her name, all created from her home in Spratton.
The honeycomb ice cream has been praised as the best that people have ever tried and this, along with dark chocolate stracciatella, cherry with a hint of amaretto and elderflower sorbet, are among the most popular.
Eden Wild
Florist Suzie Whall is the founder and owner of Eden Wild, which relocated from Chester House to Delapré Abbey in early March.
Eden Wild opened in October 2021 and with the support of a lovely team of family volunteers, Suzie has built a following across the whole of Northamptonshire.
With two decades of experience in the industry, Suzie offers garden-inspired flower bouquets for delivery across the county, as well as for events, farewells and weddings.
Workshops and community-focused ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’ also form an important part of Suzie’s work and as these are rolled out at the new location, Eden Wild is definitely one to watch this spring and for the rest of 2026.
