Popular salon named best in county for third consecutive year as business owner ‘couldn’t be happier’
A popular salon has been named the best in the county for the third consecutive year and fourth time in total, as the business owner says she “couldn’t be happier”.
The Beauty Box, in Quarry Road, opened its Duston premises more than four years ago and founder Rebecca Kelsey achieved her dream of opening a salon by the time she was 30.
The aim was to become the go-to for vegan and cruelty-free beauty, massage and skincare treatments, after Rebecca’s journey into the beauty industry began as a teenager when she worked in a salon alongside her college studies.
She built up a client base after subsequently spending three years working at Whittlebury Hall and five years at Virgin Active Spa, and this has continued to expand since the launch of The Beauty Box.
Rebecca previously told this newspaper that her intention was not to build a multi-award-winning business venture, but solely to create a sanctuary where clients could visit to switch off. All she cared about was doing what she loved and had built a career in.
The business owner took to social media days after the latest award win, when she said it had finally hit her that The Beauty Box was named the county’s best beauty salon at the Northants Life Awards 2026.
“I honestly couldn’t be happier right now,” said Rebecca. “And not even for myself, but for my incredible team. They work tirelessly, never complain, and always show up on top form to create the perfect treatments for all our wonderful clients. Even after four wins, it’s still so emotional, still unexpected and still a complete shock.”
Rebecca described the days following the win as a “whirlwind” and addressed comments that it was unfair for the salon to win again.
She continued: “But these awards aren't handed out by chance, they are won on merit. They are won because of you – our incredible clients who vote for us year after year – and a panel of judges who look deeply at what our business stands for.
“We are pushing the noise aside to celebrate the fact that our hard work paid off. We deserve to be here, and honestly? It’s only made us more determined to do it again next year.”
Rebecca has taken time to reflect on the seven years that The Beauty Box has been operating, and how it has “grown from a tiny vision into the incredibly successful salon it is today”.
“As you all know, we are so much more than just a salon,” Rebecca continued. “For many, we are a sanctuary, a safe space and a place of hope. We are here to pamper you, to listen, and to simply show kindness.”
Rebecca thanked her team members April, Reannah and Georgia, and all of their 4,905 wonderful clients who have made the salon what it is today.
