The owner of the cafe, which is popular for its breakfasts, afternoon teas and cakes has been preparing for the reopening by ensuring social distancing measures can be implemented when customers are inside the cafe picking up their orders.

Jodie Turner said: “We’ve been closed since March 20, so it’s been really difficult.

“But all the shops on Main Road have reopened now so I felt like it would be silly for me to not open.

“It’s completely new for us doing it this way, with takeaways and deliveries.

“We’ve closed one of the areas of the cafe off and we’ll only allow two people in at a time.

Customers will soon be able to get a slice of cake and much more as a takeaway or delivery.Customers will soon be able to get a slice of cake and much more as a takeaway or delivery.

“We’ve also got two boxes with tape around them to show customers where they have to stand.

“There’s sanitising stations as customers come in, staff will all be wearing masks and we’ve had to move out all our tables and chairs so customers don’t sit down while they wait and they will not be allowed to use the toilets either.

“We’re just asking people to be patient with us as it’s something we have not done before.”

As the eatery reopens, Jodie and one other member of staff will be running the operation until they know how busy it will be.

Although there has already been quite a lot of interest in the reopening and Jodie is looking forward to seeing regular customers again.

She added: “I’m really excited to get back as we have such a good relationship with our customers.

“But I am quite nervous as well because we will have to interact with the public, which I haven’t really done in the last three months.

“So keeping myself and my staff members safe is my main priority.

“You just worry that people will have forgotten about us while we were closed so it’s nice to see a good response.

“I have already had quite a few phone calls with customers' orders and I have had one who has ordered a decaf tea and a breakfast for everyday until I’m told otherwise. He must have missed it so much.”

While the shop is open for takeaways and deliveries only, Jodie will serve a reduced menu, but this still includes all hot drinks, cakes, sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and breakfasts.
