The British Retail Consortium reported sales to have decreased in the UK for the first time in 25 years but many Northamptonshire businesses have experienced growth.
Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce reported an increase in domestic sales, job recruitment and consumer confidence from October to December compared to the previous quarter.
Several businesses did open in Northampton last year too, including The Range, The Rose Gallery and WHSmith.
