One florist replaces another at the heart of Northampton town centre as founder took leap to follow passion

One florist has replaced another at a premises in Northampton town centre as a new business founder has taken the leap to follow her passion.

KS Bloomery opened in The Ridings Arcade in November 2022 and although the business still operates, it is no longer based in this premises – and a new florist has now opened its doors.

Nicoleta Costache, known as Nina, opened The Bloom Room by Nina on December 6 last year. She describes flowers as her passion and loved creating arrangements at home, which led her to complete a floristry course and launch a business of her own.

Her former two-decade career in the construction equipment industry was completely different from this new venture, but Nina wonders why she did not make the switch sooner.

Nina proudly creates bouquets and arrangements for any occasion, and was asked to summarise what her business does and offers for anyone who has yet to visit.

“I help people express their emotions – celebration, sympathy or love,” Nina told the Chronicle & Echo. “I want to bring this town to life again as it is really quiet at the moment. I want people to be happier.”

The business owner has lived in Northampton for more than 25 years and recalls that the town centre used to be full of life. She is optimistic this will one day return and is pleased to be located looking out onto St Giles’ Street.

Nina has already received lots of praise for the shop and the wide variety of flowers available in custom arrangements, as she is passionate that one size does not fit all.

Currently, orders can only be placed by paying a visit to the shop in The Ridings Arcade and as Nina is running the business on her own, collection is the only option available. She plans to introduce a website once settled.

When asked what she believes sets The Bloom Room apart from others, Nina said: “I focus on both the quality and personalisation of the arrangements, and I want to create a welcoming space for customers to ask for advice.”

Nina one day hopes to offer wedding arrangements but is focused on establishing her presence in Northampton town centre to begin with. She encourages new faces to come and see what she offers.
