Now the family has been selected in the final four to win a National British Farming Award in the ‘farming family business’ category.

The awards scheme is run annually by the Farmers Guardian Newspaper, and is a highly sought after and respected accolade among the farming community.

Tom Elliott said: “We are dedicated to providing our customers with quality produce and care passionately about the origin of our meat, by overseeing the whole supply chain process.

“From rearing native sheep and cattle throughout the year, to serving top quality meat cuts and local produce in our two shops, being shortlisted for the British Farming Awards makes all the hard work and long hours immensely worthwhile.

“We are incredibly humbled to be recognised for our achievements.”

Milly Fyfe, a fellow farming friend, nominated the Elliott family business for the award.

She added: “Having known the Elliott family for more than 15 years, Tom, Roger and Rosemary are incredibly dedicated, hugely knowledgeable and well respected within the local farming community.

“Launching a new farm shop during the Covid-19 pandemic was extremely brave.

“The family has played an integral part in serving the community during this difficult time as well as creating a new amenity, which is tipped to be a future tourist destination.

“They are worthy applicants of the Farming Family business award and I wish them every success in the future.”

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the British Farming award ceremony will take place virtually on October 21, where the Elliott family will find out if they have been successful in their

category.
