Northampton’s leading hair extensions salon founder says it ‘means the world’ to be shortlisted for national accolade

The founder of Northampton's leading hair extensions salon says it “means the world” to be shortlisted for a national accolade.

Lola Hair Extensions opened its salon and academy in Wellingborough Road in July 2023, after founder Georgia Baugh launched the business back in 2011, and it has since seen worldwide growth.

The business has now trained more than 100 students in hair extensions across the UK and Dubai through its international academy, helping them to build successful businesses of their own.

The team’s true passion lies in helping clients get their confidence back, as many come to Lola Hair Extensions feeling self conscious due to thin or damaged hair. Seeing clients leave feeling empowered is the most rewarding part of what they do.

Georgia, who describes herself as a hair extension expert and international educator, launched Lola Hair Extensions 15 years ago after she decided to learn a new skill to earn more money.

She was just 19 years old at the time and after completing a course in London, Georgia built her client base on evenings and weekends alongside her full-time job.

It was not until a few months before the pandemic when Georgia left her former job to take on the venture full-time, and she managed to make more money and see more success after taking the scary leap.

The business continued to operate from Georgia’s home salon until two-and-a-half years ago when she opened in Wellingborough Road, and the team has grown ever since.

Georgia, who has lived in Dubai since January 2023 and works between there and Northampton, has been named a finalist in the Educator Excellence Award at the Hair and Beauty Excellence Awards.

Having only launched her training academy a couple of years ago, the founder said: “It means the world. I’ve built my business from the ground up and education is at the heart of everything I do.

“To be shortlisted within the whole of the UK is amazing and represents every student I’ve trained who has built their own career in hair extensions.”

Georgia will patiently wait to learn her fate at the awards ceremony later this year, and she believes award nominations add to her existing credibility in the hair extensions and teaching worlds.

“It shows the level of training we offer to students and puts us on a pedestal as one of the best in the UK,” said Georgia. “It shows future students what is possible for them.

“I went on training courses myself and saw what was missing from them. Ours covers all angles and not just extensions, like how to get clients, the business side of things and social media.”

Georgia is pleased to have welcomed new stylists to the team at the Northampton salon, and she continues to work behind the scenes on her own products and online training opportunities.

“I started the year feeling excited,” she concluded. “I took time off at Christmas and it shows how important it is to do that when you don’t stop. I had time to write my goals and see where I want the business to go.”
