Steffans Jewellers have been using their time during the coronavirus lockdown to create a new store concept while making sure they follow the Government guidelines so customers can safely stand two metres apart in store.

The store in Abington Square has been standing empty for almost two months since Boris Johnson told the country to stay at home but staff who work at the shop have been able to still trade online 'dispatching orders all over the globe'.

The new design, which sales director, Wes Suter calls 'eccentric British design' will see a new bespoke coffee and champagne bar for customers to use while they peruse round the counters.

The store refit has cost £200,000 and Wes says it's a huge backing for the town centre retail scene.

"We are continuing to invest in Northampton as a town and strive to create the very best in in store theatre," Wes said.

"We know our customers want unique items and a unique experience to boot.

"We believe our store will continue to be the jewel in the crown for Northampton retail and we aim to set the bench mark high."

Steffans is planning on welcoming customers back in-store in June and have created a new online platform to book an appointment.
