Staff at Fong Day Spa have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure they are ready to reopen safely next month, if they are given the go-ahead by the Prime Minister.

All staff have undertaken online training in advanced safety measures to meet with Covid-19 safety standards and there will be reduced capacity in the salon with no more than two treatment rooms being used at one time.

Exacting standards is something Yin Jeune is familiar with, having been the spa manager of London’s luxurious five-star hotel, The Langham Hotel, prior to setting up Fong Day Spa nine years ago.

She says that she and her team have been working hard to prepare the spa salon to be in line with rigorous measures issued by the British Beauty Council and the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC).

“A three-step deep cleaning programme of the salon will be implemented daily to include cleaning, disinfecting and sanitising and extra time has been allocated between client appointments to deep cleanse the treatment rooms, work stations and equipment," Yin said.

"A number of changes have been implemented to make things ‘touch-free’ throughout the spa salon such as infrared sensor taps and touch-free dispensers for soap and hand sanitiser.

“Staff will be wearing a fresh uniform daily with full PPE, including protective goggles, face masks, aprons and gloves, which will be single-use and changed after each and every client."

Appointment bookings will be made online and payment will be taken at the time of booking, with priority bookings being offered to spa members and clients who were cancelled as a direct result of lockdown.

All bookings will be by ‘appointment only’ and clients, who will be given free PPE disposable face masks on arrival, will be asked to complete a health questionnaire online, prior to their appointment.

It's now been nearly three months since people have been able to pay a visit to Fong Day Spa and with the extra stress and anxiety caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, many people are more than ready to be pampered once again.

Spa owner Yin Jeune said that she has received messages from clients asking when the spa salon at The Boulevard, in Weston Favell, will be reopening.

“People are more than ready to come back,” she said. “Judging from the number of messages I am receiving asking when they can book in - clients are keen to get on the waiting list.

“Staff and client safety is of paramount importance to us and we have implemented robust safety measures to provide maximum protection.

"We want to reassure our clients that although there will be some changes at the spa salon they will be in safe hands and in a clean, safe environment, with qualified staff welcoming them, so they are able to relax and enjoy their treatments."
