The Frankie and Benny's restaurant at Sixfields in Northampton has unexpectedly closed with the vacant unit now up for let.

It is unclear when the chain left but the unit on Walter Tull Way was spotted with no signs or branding by the Chronicle & Echo on Saturday (April 10).

The leasehold for the former restaurant opposite Northampton Town Football Club's stadium has been available to rent through Savills for £159,290 a year since January 25.

The Sixfields site was saved from closure in June last year when the company went into administration and shut 125 restaurants after the first coronavirus lockdown.

Frankie and Benny's at Riverside Retail Park remains operational and reopened today (Monday) for outdoor dining following the latest national shutdown, according to its official website.

Parent company The Restaurant Group has been contacted for comment.
